EA Sports Active: Day 1

Today is Day 1 of my Nintendo Wii EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge. I bought this game for my Wii way back in May 09. I read the reviews and heard such positive things I figured if I didn’t really use it too much it still ends up being cheaper than a gym membership. Apparently I know myself pretty well. The first 2 weeks were alright, I woke up bright and early, exercised then went on with my day. By week 3, I had a trip to Charlotte to see my boyfriend and instead of hopping right back into it, it turned into “Ehh maybe tomorrow”

I’m headed to Vegas in March for a friend’s birthday and I wanna look my best. You know, throw on a bathing suit while sipping drinks by the pool LOL. It’s sad to say but I’ve let myself go a little since being with my bf and he has too. We like love food and beer but decided that we need to get our bodies back to where they used to be. So my plan is to do two 30 day workouts and document how well it works.

Day 1… SUCKED!!! I am so out of shape, wheezing and breathing heavily throughout the whole workout. I felt like my heart was trying to jump out of my chest. Hopefully it gets easier over time but OMG that was horrible, thank goodness I get to do this in the privacy of my own home & no one else could see what a train wreck I was.

Til next time…

She's Back

Just thought I'd share this image of the simply beautiful Corinne Bailey Rae gracing the cover of Billboard magazine.  I'm so happy to know that I'll get to hear more of her voice in the near future especially since i thought it would take a while after the death of her husband. (That came off selfish, sorry)  Although I haven't stopped playing her debut I'm anxious to hear something new from her.  Her second album,The Sea, is supposed to be released January 26th and a video for her first single "I'd Do It All Again" is out.

P.S. I am OBSESSED with her curls and although I'll never have them, she's a major inspiration to embrace and love my soon-to-be natural hair

Get to Know… J*DaVeY

New Wave/Funk/Electronic/ Alt Hip-hop… Call them what you want but J*DaVeY is a welcome alternative to the same old thing that has been playing on the radio. Back on one of my random music searches in early 2009, I somehow came across their Myspace page and was HOOKED. It was refreshing to hear something different. Sounding like a modern-day Prince but made up of the lovely Miss Jack Davey and Brook D’Leau, this duo from California has opened me up to a whole new world of sounds. Their first album The Beauty in Distortion/The Land of the Lost has easily become one of the most played on my iTunes . Just wanted to share something different and hopefully get a few more people interest, maybe expand their fanbase a little :)

Just in case you wanna hear some more, aside from the video, they released Boudoir Synema: The Great Mistapes (Part 1) on Christmas Day (kinda like an amuse-bouche of what’s to come on their next LP)

WELCOME WORLD!

My new year's resolution for 2010 was to try some new things. It's so much easier said than done. For days I thought; "What to do, what to do?" Then the little genius hiding inside told me "What are you interests and build from there silly" LOL Well, I spend hours a day on the internet looking up any and everything from natural hair to music to clothes to celeb gossip. I read everyone's reviews before deciding to give something a try but I wanna be that person. I want someone to come across my site and read MY review on a hair conditioner or become a fan of music that I introduced them to. Fast forward to today... I'm giving blogging a shot. Hell even if no one reads it, it a document of my life, where I am and what's going through that crazy head of mine. Now this definitely won't be hard-hitting, sophisticated journalism because I'm not exactly a writing wizard BUT it will be some fun reading (crossing my fingers). Hopefully I'll build some small little project into my new favorite hobby. STAY TUNED...
