For the Product Junkie in You

I think I was better off staying away from my Google Reader.  Once I opened it up to check out the blogs I follow, I was introduced to these two:

Just great.
Another reason to cry broke.
BUT
In my desire to become a better blogger, I find they're a great opportunity to try new products and share my highs and lows.
(any excuse to feed my addiction plus it's always a good day when you get a package in the mail)

Basically, each box contains 5 or 6 samples of products based on a beauty profile you create when you sign up. (CurlBox is geared towards natural hair and Birchbox handles skin, hair, makeup, fragrance)  CurlBox hasn't officially launched yet so I don't know the price point but BirchBox is $10 a month which isn't too bad in my opinion.

If you're interested, check out:
OR if you've tried Birchbox already, let me know what you think.

Holiday Sale: Bath & Body Works

One of my biggest addictions is on sale!

Click here to read up on how much I love Bath & Body Works salt scrub.

If you have a B&BW fave here's your chance to get it.  I got 3 jars of There's the Rub for $40 when one jar retails for $24.  Now I don't have to be a cheapie, I can exfoliate as much as I want.  Finally I can finish the jar I bought back in June.  I was being so stingy it's sad... I even added sea salt from my kitchen to the mix.  FYI bad idea, my legs were on fire after shaving, which has never happened before.

I haven't seen an end date to the sale so I'm sure it will go right up til Christmas.  If it doesn't I'll make sure to alert you.

Fall Trend #4: Makeup

Fall 2010 makeup is about smoky brown eyes, vibrant eyeshadows along the lash line, deep plum/burgundy lips and minimalist makeup. These, to me, are contradictions to each other but allows plenty of opportunity to go from barely there to bold and in your face.

Summer Nail Trends

Why the video? The nail color Beyonce's sporting... LOVE!  The song's not bad either although I would like it better if kid sis Solange were singing it (it suits her better)

A lot of blogs are saying that it's Chanel's Nouvelle Vague.

Lately I've had a fascination with nail polish.  Every week you can catch me with a new color.  Honestly I think it's the change in season.  Something about winter equals low maintance to me.  Now that it's nice outside and I'm not covered by gloves, coats and Uggs I'm taking a little more time on how I present myself.  I figured I'd share my current nail polish obsessions.  Some of which I've tried already and others that I can't wait to get my hands on.

Now I'm definitely not the type to spend $14 on a bottle but I just wanted to provide the colors and you can grab them from your local BSS or drugstore.

Scrub-a-dub

Summer's coming!! Well at least, it's supposed to be.  I don't think New York got the memo but while I wait for it to warm up here, I've been prepping my skin to get it warm-weather ready.  And that means, EXFOLIATING.  It's supposed to be done year-round but in the winter, I could care less.  No one's gonna see anything anyway since I've got 4 layers of clothing on.  During the nice weather though, I swear by body scrubs.  I've tried a few and cannot find anything that compares to Bath and Body Works' True Blue Spa: There's the Rub. It's the first one I ever tried and I keep coming back to it.   Love it. Love it. Love it!  It's not super oily which is a plus for me because I use it before shaving, makes my legs nice and super smooth.  Other scrubs that I've tried contain oils that clog my razor and lead to me cutting my legs. I'm not too crazy about sugar scrubs because the sugar crystals seem to melt too quickly because of the heat and friction.  So you may be wondering why I keep trying different scrubs if There's the Rub worked so well.  My answer: the price bothers me.  It's $24 and this is the one product that never seems to go on sale.  Now to be fair, a little goes a long way and like I said before, it works, so I suck it up and shell out the money.  But to be honest it really shouldn't cost anymore than $15, tops.

During my whole journey to natural hair I've started making my own concoctions and using more oils and other natural products to replace some of the products I used to use. Partially because I'm cheap, and partially because I'm curious. For example, I no longer use a facial moisturizer.  After washing my face I immediately slather my face in coconut oil and then pat off the excess.  Moisturizer left my face feeling oily nnd greasy but coconut oil leaves it balanced and moisturized.  Complete flip-flop. As I go along, I'll fill you in on my other homemade/natural products.  Back to what I was saying...  I'm thinking about making my own but I'm a lil lazy so until then I'll continue buying.

Happy Scrubbing!
