Again and again

December 31st... Time to make decisions on what you want the upcoming year to bring and reflect back on this past year.

What I wanted was to become the next big natural hair guru with this blog. I dunno what I was thinking. What I needed was an outlet, a way to express my interests and personality. If anyone asks what this site is about its a mix of things: pop culture, music, beauty, fashion, hair... It's me.

It's been more than 8 months since I've posted anything and I've missed this side project of mine so I'm planning a return to blogging through a giveaway. To reintroduce myself I decided to give some lucky follower a pair of gold cap toe leopard print shoes (sz 9) similar to Sam Edelman's Jordie.

April Showers

I'm starting to think I need to invest in some of these.  I'm so sick of this dreary wet weather.  I want real spring: warmth, sun, the smell of fresh cut grass.  Until then, I better accept the fact that rainboots are gonna become my staple shoe.

"...Oxford Comma"

I saw these adorable oxfords on The Fashion Bomb and had to share.  Fashion line, Boxing Kitten, are responsible for them.  If you don't know Boxing Kitten they're the designers of this dress that Solange was sporting a few months back (which I heart):

Here they are, courtesy of the Fashion Bomb:

Now they're not even an option for the winter, I'm thinking way ahead to spring/summer, but what do you think of them?

Missed My Target

From a tip I got by reading nitro:licious, I learned that Dolce Vita was releasing a "for Target" line.  So of course I ran over to my local Target to see what I could find, only to find NOTHING.*  It's not really that I wanted to buy of them but I wanted to know what the quality was like.  Especially those studded oxfords that I have my eye on. Usually I know about all the designer release dates way ahead of time. If I wanna try and get something my chances are pretty good but Dolce Vita snuck its way onto the shelves and into someone's shopping bag without me knowing. Of course I had to walk out of the store with something so I wouldn't feel like the trip was a waste (BAD HABIT) so I picked up a storage bin, a pillow and wait for it... more conditioners.  This time I'm trying out HE Totally Twisted since it was on sale and Suave Rosemary Mint conditioner.  I'm on a quest to find quality cheapie conditioners that can be found at just about any drugstore.  I'm sure once I finish ransacking those aisles I'll move on to the beauty supply stores, online world and eventually the pricey stuff.

* Just read on Refinery29 that stores are supposed to be releasing Dolce Vita for Target on August 22.  So maybe the shelves will be restocked once that date approaches.

Shoe Crush

I need these in my life. I've been looking for black wedges for a little while (even though I'm not supposed to be shopping for another few weeks- I've been good so far) These are amazing. So what I can't wear them with everything? They're fierce and I love them. My only issue is that I haven't heard too many good things about the quality of shoes from Urban Outfitters. But they're $50 so I'm willing to take a chance.

She's Made Me a Believer

Last season, I do remember seeing these sandal booties but figured, "If I'm wearing sandals why do I need all that extra material? Obviously it's hot out if I have sandals on in the first place and I'm gonna get some weird tan line on my feet" Now I spotted my second fave Kardashian, Kourtney (Khloe's my #1), with these and I thought, "Super cute, I need a pair in my life" I have my eyes on the UO pair and the ones from Charlotte Russe. I'm more than willing to give either a nice home in my closet.

Spring 2010: Military Madness

Here's something that works well with the dresses I put up the other day. I would definitely say mix feminine pieces with something rugged like one of these jackets or boots.

Spring 2010 Trend: Oxfords (Under $50)

Oxfords are big this season and I don't see it going past Fall 2010 so here are some options, all for $50 or less...I'm a sucker for fashion but shopping adds up and quick... that's why I like to consider myself a "recessionista" There is no reason why anyone can't follow the current style trends without breaking the bank. Especially since it can be hot one minute and not the next. There's no way I can shell out a lot of money, wear something for a month or two and not feel guilty about it. Now I'm not saying everything in your closet should be cheap. Splurge on timeless pieces, like a bag or mix and match the lower end with the higher end. I'm all for balance.
