OOTD: Errand Running

Even when I'm running errands I like to look somewhat decent.
My hair is twisted up under the beanie with a lil left out in the front just cuz.
Excuse the cell phone pics, it was all very spur of the moment.

#thelazydaystruggle

Supposed to be finishing up my Christmas shopping today since it's my day off but this bed is calling my name.  If I can't do it from my bed then I don't wanna bother.  Since I'm not leaving the house I retwisted my hair so I can some more length for the rest of the week.  Which means you'll be seeing my day 3 hair and hopefully an outfit post because I have my work holiday dinner tomorrow night. (It's been a lonnnng time since I've done one of those)
But in the meantime I'll leave you with my "Yeah it's not gonna happen today" face/hair.

Hibiscus Hassle

Well it's the day after wash day aka the dreaded day one.  It's also the first day after rinsing my random hibiscus mix out of my hair.
And...
I don't think I'll be doing it again.  I figured leaving it in overnight would have left some sort of color deposit on my greys. Nope.  Plus rinsing it out was the biggest pain in the ass.  Because it's so grainy and my hair is so kinky-coily all it did was get stuck.  I was able to get rid of most of it when I detangled my hair but that was a much longer process than it typically is.
2 fails equals a NO in my book.

I did have the bright idea to boil it as a tea and strain all the particles out so if/when my inner mixtress wants to come out, I'll try it that way.
I would've taken some pics today but I despise day 1 hair so we'll just start with day 2 tomorrow.

A lot of people say that natural hair is too involved and there's so much that goes into it.  And while that can be true, I've found my hair always looks/acts better when I keep it simple.  Because of that I'll be backing off the ayurvedic treatments and just sticking to conditioners, moisturizers and oils.
I have a couple products I need to review so be on the look out for those.

Time for some action

It's been a while since I've really done anything to my hair.  Since mid-November I kept it away from the cold (or what I thought was cold, so far the weather here in NY has been pretty decent) by doing some kinky twists. Fast forward to last Saturday when I took them out and finally got to see my hair again.  As much as I love the convenience of the twists, I take better care of my hair when it's out.

Wash day has come around again and I got kinda antsy.  All I wanted to do was play mixtress.  I remembered that I have about 2 lbs of hibiscus powder that I haven't used to why not test it out and see how I like it.  Aside from me hoping to gain a red tint to my hair through regular use, hibiscus powder is said to promote hair growth, reduce shedding while adding shine and softness.  Anything that claims to do those, I gotta try.

Right now I have a container of about 5 heaping teaspoons of hibiscus powder, a teaspoon of JBCO and about a cup or so of conditioner (part Yes To Cucumbers, part Tressemme Naturals)

It's kinda making me want some red velvet cake but that's besides the point.

I plan on throwing it on my hair right before I head to sleep and seeing how it turns out in the AM.
Wish me luck.
