Perfect Timing... Kinda

While on a search for something to wear for my good friend's birthday bar tour, I found this at TJ Maxx.

As the label says it's a spray bottle of EVOO.  My scalp is really dry and does really well when I use olive oil on it.  The problem is when I poured it on my hands, it had to go through so much hair that it never really made it to my scalp.  Now I can part my hair and spray directly onto my scalp.  I could've gone the "applicator bottle" route but I found this first.  Plus it's was only $3 so I have no complaints.  No actually I have one complaint.  Why couldn't I have found this in the beginning of my transition when I first started twisting my hair? Oh well, better late than never. So may not have found anything to wear but my PJ is satisfied & I'm fine with that.

Oh, if anyone has any suggestions as to what to wear for a bar tour in NYC, that's fashionable and comfortable, I'm open to options.  It's was so much easier when I was at State.  You threw on a t-shirt with the name of the tour with jeans and that's all.  I love New York but sometimes it's just so complicated

This Time I’m Sure

So I keep setting a date for my BC and changing it but it’s official (again)… SUNDAY, MAY 9th 2010!!! My bf is gonna be in town and we decided when I first started this process, that we would cut my hair off together.  I’m really nervous but it is definitely time.  I’m curious to see what it looks like.  There’s a good chance I might cry or I might totally surprise myself and love it immediately.  The plan is to record it and take tons of pictures so I’ll share it here.  If I’m not crazy about it, the twists will go back until it hits a length I’m cool with.  In the meantime, I’m about to stock up on accessories galore; earrings and hair pieces just so I can be ready.  Shopping time-out is officially over on Saturday! Finally!!

We’ll see how it goes. Cross your fingers.

Natural Hair's Expensive...

... Or am I the one that's making it expensive? As I get closer and closer to my BC, I've been thinking that I'm not prepared.  While I was relaxed I used to throw an elastic in and go or leave my hair out.  But I see all these girls with gorgeous accessories in their hair and I WANT!!!  My shopping time-out is over in a couple of weeks so I'm probably gonna have a spending spree at Forever21.com.  All their hair accessories and jewelry is adorable, amazing and cheap.  I know a lot of naturalistas start making their own but for now, I'll just buy.  I'm real good at buying!

Here's a few that I have my eye on:

Random Sidenote: I'm not a big YouTuber (I watch religiously but I can't get into the recording aspect just yet, maybe one day)  but I do want to do a haul when I can start shopping again.  So hopefully I'll get to do one here with pics.

She Don't Need My Feedback

So Ciara has come out with one of those buzz track/videos, kinda like what Rihanna did with "Wait Your Turn."  It's called "Basic Instinct (U Got Me)" She's telling everyone she's back and doesn't care what we have to say about it rapping "You can go and write you blog/ I don't need your feedback" (Yeah I did say rapping) Now I'm not exactly a Ciara fan, I don't dislike her either.  She does have a few good songs it's her performances that make me mad.  Hell of a dancer but her live singing skills are questionable.  Hopefully while she was recording this "comeback" she worked on her vocal skills because anyone can be hot on a record with the help of producers and studio equipment.  I like the video and she looks great in it.  Anyway I'm looking forward to see what she has to offer because she's talking up, well rapping/singing, a big game right now.

Romper Room

For those that know me, you know  I kinda hate showing my legs so when spring/summer comes around I'm still wearing jeans but I'll show a little calf, lol.  But 2010 is my "do what you wouldn't do" year and I have absolutely been loving looks I've seen with dresses, shorts and rompers so I'll be wearing them rather than just admire them on others.  Rompers, like dresses, are real simple.  Throw it on, add a denim jacket, some cute sandals and accessories and you're good to go.

Here's a couple ideas:

Shoe Crush

I need these in my life. I've been looking for black wedges for a little while (even though I'm not supposed to be shopping for another few weeks- I've been good so far) These are amazing. So what I can't wear them with everything? They're fierce and I love them. My only issue is that I haven't heard too many good things about the quality of shoes from Urban Outfitters. But they're $50 so I'm willing to take a chance.

Throwback Video?

VH1 Soul just played this video and I forgot how much I loved it. My iPod used to randomly come across it when I put it on shuffle but I haven't heard it in a while so I gotta check (my iTunes tends to randomly take songs off my music library)Guess I'm calling it a throwback because if the radio considers things that came out in 2005 and earlier a throwback then that means this is (This single came out in 2001) I realize how old I am more and more everyday especially when it comes to music. :(

Jessica Alba's Simple Chic

I was inspired to put my spin this outfit Jessica Alba wore recently while running around in LA.  It's so simple but so damn cute. Of course I had to but my budget friendly spin on it.

Quick Update

I'm in dire need of removing these twists and putting some new ones in but I've been lazy and haven't had the time lately.  I did manage to take two out in the back (PROGRESS!) That back portion of my hair is completely natural so I decided to try a mini twist out., just to see what I might have to work with.  I wanna perfect my formula before I BC so I can rock a fierce twist-out afterwards.  If you're natural I'm sure you know by now that select Target stores have started selling popular natural hair care products (if they don't have it at yours, you can buy online) I picked up a bottle of SheaMoisture Coconut Hibicus Style Milk for starters. I adore the smell but who knows how well it works.  I'm testing it tonite.  I put a little on my hair, sealed with my Safi Hair Butter (read the review here) and twisted with pure aloe vera gel.  I'm gonna undo them either tomm or Wed and make a judgment call then. Wish me luck because I'm tired of spending money on all these products.

**UPDATE** (to my update, lol)

Well, I left my experimental twists in for two days.  Boredom got the best of me so I decided to see how it turned out.  The verdict is... I love it. I kinda wish my whole head was done but one more month to go.  I want to go back to Target and pick up some more products from the line like the Coconut and Hibicus Souffle because I think my 4b hair might want something a little bit heavier but for now I'm satistfied.

Apparently I'm not the only one.  While doing my daily blog search I came across UrbanCurlz' review "Shea Moisture Gets 4 Stars"

Dan Black ft. Kid Cudi- Symphonies

I dunno who you are Dan Black but you won me over.

You threw some of my favorite things together and gave me a new song to play the hell out of.

Pretty in Pink

I was in such a good mood yesterday thanks to the amazing weather we had, so I headed outside and took a few pics of myself.  Plus I really liked what I had on.
